Second Opinion — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2026

Second Opinion is a browser extension that gives you an honest, AI-generated opinion on a product you are viewing, and suggests a genuinely better alternative only when one exists. This policy explains exactly what it does and does not do with your data.

When the extension does anything

The extension does nothing until you click the "Is this a good purchase?" button on a product page. It never runs automatically, injects nothing on its own, and does not read or change any page until you ask it to.

What is sent, and where

When you click the button, the extension reads the current product's public information shown on that page: its title, its price and any list price, the brand, the seller and where it ships from, the rating summary, and Amazon's public review summary. It sends that to our server to generate the opinion. All of it is public product information that anyone viewing the page can see, and it is the only data transmitted. We do not send or collect your name, email, account, payment details, cookies, or any personal information, and we do not read reviews tied to you or anything about who wrote them.

What we store

Nothing personal. The product text is used to produce the response and is not stored against you, is not used to build a profile, and is not sold or shared. We do not track your browsing history or the pages you visit.

We do keep anonymous, aggregate counts only, for example how many checks happen per day and a rough region derived from your browser's language setting. These numbers contain no personal information, are not tied to you or your device, and cannot identify you. They exist only to understand overall usage.

Third parties

The product text is processed by an AI model provider solely to generate the opinion for that request. Recommended-product links point to Amazon. As an Amazon Associate we may earn a commission from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you. This is disclosed in the extension's interface.

Permissions

The extension requests access only to Amazon product pages (to read the product you are looking at when you click) and to our own server (to fetch the opinion). It does not request access to other websites or your data on them.
